Bloomberg’s Economics: Spend to Win
Matt on 11 4, 2009

Mayor Michael Bloomberg edged out his opponent, Fred C. Thompson, Jr., to win a third-term as New York City’s mayor. Mayor Bloomberg outspent his opponent 14-to-1 during the election, sinking 90 million of his personal fortune into his re-election bid.
Bloomberg said that the spending broke down into 5 million for mailings, 2 million on buttons and 83 million to buy the Yankees back into the World Series.
